(Narrated in English)
Like other hormonal therapy for prostate cancer, MDV3100 is expected to work by blocking the male hormones that cancer cells use to grow. However, MDV3100 was designed to work in prostate cancer cells that have become resistant to a commonly used hormonal therapy.
In laboratory experiments on resistant cancer cells, MDV3100 provided stronger blocking of the male hormones than another commonly used hormone therapy for prostate cancer. Experiments also showed that MDV3100 killed cancer cells that couldn’t be killed by the other hormonal therapy.
Now that you’ve seen how MDV3100 was designed to slow the progression of advanced prostate cancer, learn more about the disease.
