About the PREVAIL Clinical Trial

Investigational Prostate Cancer Therapy

The PREVAIL Trial is a Phase 3 clinical trial. It will test the effects of an oral investigational drug called MDV3100 in men with advanced prostate cancer that continues to progress despite hormonal therapy. The purpose of the trial is to determine whether this investigational prostate cancer therapy can safely slow the progression of the disease and extend the lives of men with prostate cancer.

What should you expect if you join the PREVAIL Trial?

  • You will be asked to take your trial medication capsules once a day.
  • 1/2 of study participants will receive MDV3100, the investigational prostate cancer treatment being studied and 1/2 of participants will receive placebo (sugar pill) that does not contain the investigational drug. Neither you nor your doctor will know which pill you are getting.
  • You will be seen at the study doctor’s office monthly for the first 6 months. For the next 6 months, there will be monthly visits, some of which may be by phone. After a year, you will be seen every 3 months while you are taking the prostate cancer trial medication.
  • You will also continue to receive care from your current medical team.
